Professor Sandy Arkhurst
Professor Sandy Arkhurst entered the University of Ghana in 1964 and graduated in 1967 with Diploma in Theatre Arts. He was employed in the University as a Teaching Assistant and Artistic Director of The Ghana Drama Studio from 1968 to 1971. He won a University of Ghana scholarship to study for a certificate and a master’s degree at the Universities of Birmingham (UK) and Washington, Seattle, respectively. In Washington, he won the prestigious Shubert Foundation Award for playwriting for a year. He obtained a Master’s degree in Drama in June, 1973 and was appointed as a lecturer in October, 1973. He took a leave of absence for four years and joined the Department of English at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria and rose to the rank of Associate professor. He returned to Ghana in 1985 to head the Department of English, in Winneba for a year and re-joined Legon where heretired in September, 2005. After retirement he joined the Creative Arts Faculty in the University of Education, Winneba, where he set up The Department of Theatre Arts. Besides teaching, Sandy Arkhurst has served as a consultant to many organizations including UNDP, Ghana and GTZ, Berlin, Germany.
Apostle K. Kyei-Mensah
Apostle Kingsford Kyei-Mensah holds a bachelor degree in Theology (BTH) from the Canadian Christian College, Canada; a diploma, in English, office management and administration; a Certificate in pastoral ministry from Pentecost bible training institute (now Pentecost University) By God’s grace and dint of hard work, Apostle Kingsford Kyei-Mensah has gone through all the ranks from a Deacon, Elder, Overseer, Evangelist and then an Apostle. He has served as a Witness (Evangelism) Director for the entire Church of Pentecost (COP). This position he occupied for two (2) conservative terms. He also served as the Area Head for Tamale and Sunyani. He was also once a co-opted member of the Executive Council the highest decision making body within the Church. He has also undertaken several ministerial working tours in the following countries: France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Canada, USA, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, and Cote d’Ivoire. Apostle Kyei- Mensah is currently the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Kwadaso Area in the Ashanti Region.
Lawyer (Rtd) Captain Armah Blay
Lawyer Capt. (Rtd) Armah Blay is a seasoned lawyer and a retired Army Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).He served in the Ghana Armed Forces for about 20 years. Mr Armah Blay was Senior Legal Officer for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Ghana. This position held for 10 years before going on retirement. He has worked as Solicitor Secretary for Companies such as Japan Motors (authorized dealers of Nissan), Weir Minerals and a lot more. He has an extensive rich experience as a practising Barrister and Legal Pratitioner He currently has his legal chambers as Armah Blay and Associates which is located at East Legon.
Mr. George MacCarthy
Mr. George MacCarthy graduated from the University of Science and Technology with Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. His academic life continued as a teaching assistant responsible for the undergraduate students during their engineering practical courses and the Hand Pump Production Unit. While there he served as a consultant for UNICEF for evaluation of Fish Smoking Project in Southern Ghana and also performing various installations including Wood Working Machinery Products Ltd in Kumasi. He later moved on to join the JStanley-Owusu group, Accra Ghana in 1988 where he was responsible for all maintenance and repair of the group's mechanical and electrical equipment. He was also responsible for filling and bottling lines for food and beverage divisions in Accra and Freetown from 1993-1997. Through hard work and perseverance he was appointed as the Managing Director of Intrapex Ltd, Sierra Leone. He was in charge of day to day running of the company control and implementation of capital investment and responsible to the Board of Directors with regards to initiations. He furthered his career to Mabaplast Ltd, Accra Ghana as a Mechanical Engineer responsible for the day to day management of Plastic Manufacturing Facility. This involved Production Planning and Control, Optimization of Equipment usage and Scheduled Maintenance of Equipment. In 2000, Mr. Charles MacCarthy joined Weir Minerals West Africa Ltd, Ghana as senior sales engineer in charge of designing water Surry disposal systems for Mines in West Africa. He joins Star Capital with a wealth of experience in both local and international markets.
Elder Emmanuel Blay
Elder Emmanuel Blay holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana and a BA Economics & Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast. Currently is perusing an LLB degree. He is currently the Executive Director for Star Capital Limited. He is an Investment Banker and has a very extensive knowledge in Management, Finance and Operations and has worked and occupied management positions for a lot of blue-chip companies some of which are includes: IFS Finance and Leasing Company Limited; NDK Financial Services Ltd; Sterling Financial Services Ltd; First National Savings and Loans Ltd; First Ghana Building Company Ltd and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research –CSIR.
Mr. Moses Kenneth Abakah
Mr. Moses Kenneth Abakah holds an M. Phil Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon and a B. A. (First Class Honours) in Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana, (August 2001 – June 2005). He is an Adjunct Lecturer in Economics at Maranatha University College, Sowutuom, Accra, since January, 2010 to date; an Economics Tutor and Assistant Examiner in Economics, Centre for Continuing Education, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, since 2009 to date; was a Teaching Assistant, Department of Economics, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, ( 2005 – 2006 Academic year); an Assistant Examiner in Economics, Centre for Continuing Education, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana (2005). He is currently an Assistant Manager at the Central Security Depository (CSD) of the Bank of Ghana.
